No. There was 1 nonresident tag available for San Juan that year. I had maximum points, can't remember how many. But there were only 5 nonresidents that had max tags that year. At that time Paunsaugunt was the hot LE elk hunt, so previously all max point nonresidents had applied for that hunt.

In 2010, the 4 other nonresidents applied for Paunsaugunt LE elk, and I applied for the single nonresident LE tag for San Juan. And got it.

373 with 60 points mass. There were higher scoring bulls on the unit, but I really liked this massive typical 6x6.

With the changes to permit allocation this year it’s tough to say from past odds what you could draw. If your goal is to draw this year no matter what, I would suggest you search odds with at least 2 points less than you currently have. So when looking at them you would be looking at the 17 point pool. You’re currently on the 19 point pool in the odds sheets.

My recommendation would be any of the following. Do the one you could scout /hunt the most.

Nebo muzzy
Cache South muzzy
Dutton muzzy
SW Desert muzzy

Fishlake early
Manti mid
Wasatch early
Fishlake would be a good unit - i did the spike archery hnt there the last couple years - lots of people but lots of opportunity on decent elk.
