Is the float draggin' Alaska book (or any of his other books) relevant for a DIY trip that isn't a float hunt? I'm mainly looking for general moose hunting tips, tactics, etc. If not, are there any other resources folks would recommend outside of the great posts here?

it is giving a lot of good advices in many areas including clothing caliber or tactic that can be used on non float adventures (fly in and river/lake trips for our family) and even outside of Alaska in the Yukon in Canada to be accurate.

Yes - it's a great reference manual for a lot of hunting related knowledge. Go ahead and skip all the raft selection stuff if you're not floating, but there's lots of great general info in there. One area in particular that I found useful was the meat care section of the book. No matter how much you think you know, it never hurts to read a well researched take on the subject.

Very well said...and I totally agree. I have learned a lot from LB's contributions and field studies. The University of Alaska recently awarded him an honorary doctorate for his extensive education work in outdoor Alaska.

Thanks everyone, that's all I needed to hear to go ahead and order it. I'm sure I'll do a float hunt in the future so it will be even more useful then as well

It’s an awesome book. If that book dosent make you want to get into float hunting, then you’re dead inside.
