I will be hunting in SE Alaska in late May. Will The Lapponia lll be sufficient for the potentially wet and cold weather. I plan to wear wader boots as well, but would like user feedback to help select the right boot. Thanks in advance for the help.

I would take a boot with waxed leather (that treats better with Nikwax) and taller cuff. I use my Lapponia III for midsummer, drier conditions. I use Schnees Granite or Hanwag Ancash in wetter and cool conditionsz along with a pair of goretex gaiters. If you're in SE rainforest , then a Lacrosse Alphaburly or similar treaded rubber boot with good insoles and potentially ankle sleeves (for added stability) may be optimal. That said, the Lapponia III dry relatively quickly compared to heavier leather boots.

My lapponia 3 are impressively waterproof. They have never leaked on me one time. I wore them this past fall on a mid season elk hunt where it was warm enough that I couldn’t force myself to wear gaiters. I was hiking through shin deep snow (notice the saturated pant legs) then mud on the way back to the truck and my toes were still dry. Ankles were soaked from not wearing gaiters though. IMG_8605.jpegAs long as you size them to have appropriate space in the toe, I think you will be impressed how warm they can be. I wore them late season elk hunting in 2024 and my feet actually got hot with heavy alpaca socks so I had to wear merino mid weight socks after that. It’s a solid boot if they fit your foot well.
