Lapping and Loctite

What a misnomer though--lightweight. I'm using them on a Marlin .45-70 with a Leupold scope on a rail that is "dovetail" spec. Had to use an adapter to get me from Picatinny mount down to dovetail. Have had no issues. Scope returns to good zero and have never had the QD loosen under recoil.

Talley QDs split vertically. You are correct, the box does not say "lightweight". Thought you knew something I did not.

Haha! That’s funny. I have piles of those Leups. Dual doves too. Never a problem with any of em.

Always blue Loctite. The previous negative comments in Loctite speak to misuse of the product and not a deficiency of the product itself.

Those aren’t actually used to mount a scope! They are used to verify that your mounting system is straight and true. Very useful tool. Everyone mounting a scope should own a pair.

The problem with using those, or a lapping bar, is they are usually a bit smaller diameter than a scope. For example, I can set a Sinclair lapping bar, or alignment bars, in mounted rings, and they fit ok, while a scope does not.

Setting the scope you are going to use, in mounted rings, tells you all you need to know. It doesn’t get much simpler.
