My anniversary is in two weeks and my wife came to me and suggested that we do a backpacking trip. You can imagine the supersize on my face, lol. Anyways we both love to fly fish. We were both guides in Alaska when we met. Just looking for something we can hike to in a half day (3-5 miles) and nothing to technical. If you have a secret hot spot you would like to share PM me. We live in Lewiston. Thanks in advance!

No hot spot , but Mud lake in the Mallard Larkins. Or Several lakes in the Seven Devils ,You can hike from lake to lake in there, we went into Dog lake it was a great little lake. you have to bush wack as the trail is not real clear but you should have the lake to yourselves.

Here is a pic of a North Idaho mountain lake. There are some good lakes on the North Fork of the Clearwater that take off from the top of Hoodoo Pass.

Brad I am looking into that now, looks like there is quite a few option up there. I thought about doing part of the Devils loops, I've hunted that some but the lakes I would want to do are a little fare for a 3 day max hike. Anyone else have any ideas?

Live in Lewiston also. the Twin lakes in gospel hump wilderness is a great hike easy 4 miles in mostly down hill. coming out is uphill but not bad at all. We are hiking into Cove lake in the selway crags this weekend, its supposed to be strenuous according to a couple of friends. there are a lot of lakes up in the crags though.
