How much heel slip should be acceptable?

With such a stiff boot I don’t see how you wouldn’t have some heel lift.

How hard do others that have the boot have to crank on the laces, to you tighten the boot as much as you can or not?

Any Suggestions on overall fit would be great.

Any Help?

If I remember correctly the Zamberlan guidelines say that 1/2" is to much and try a different size. 1/2" is way to much to me. I can't hardly get stiff boots to not slip a little (Kenetreks, Meindl) but try not to get over about 1/4". I can live with a little lift right up until I put on a pack going uphill then its brutal. For my feet, I have to pull the laces down hard and often use different lacing techniques. In my Soloman Quests I get no heel slip and don't have to pull them down real tight but they aren't as stiff as the others. I tried on the Pamir's and saw right away that for me, heel slip would be a problem. Fine line on size between getting heel slip and to tight so you beat your toes up. Good luck, everybodies feet are different.

i think your feet and your gut instinct and own personal experience on this one will tell you your answer. there are many factors involved, socks to be used, season, etc. this boot did not work for me, i really could not even try to tighten the laces, the system did not allow me to tighten the lower portion of the boot. i prefer very little if any at all heel movement. maybe a 1/16''th for me. thats just me and what i like, i do not think you should have to crank any boot down to fit proper. seems its too big if you need to really crank it down sort of speak.....different stroakes for different folks....... i will say if this boot had a better sizing or mold such as all other boots i ever have tried i would have kept it. it has its own fit be it size. at least that what i think.

I don't have the KUIU Pamir's but I do wear the Zamberland Ibex as my primary hunting boot. I think this model is probably about the same in terms of shank stiffness as the Pamir boot. I had the same problem initially. I switched out the insoles for L&S Synergy Footbeds and changed my lacing technique to the video below.

Now that my leather uppers are broken in and with these changes, I'm extremely happy with this boot. I also ordered this boot in about 1/2 a size smaller than what I normally wear as Zamberlands tend to run a bit larger than other boots.

Good luck, it takes time and give these boots a chance to see if your feet like them.

I've got both the Ibex and the Kuiu Pamir and the Pamir is much stiffer. I like both boots, the Ibex is much more of an all around hunting boot and softer/more comfortable. The Pamir is firmer and a more hardcore boot. Now I don't really think I have them completely broken in yet but they have relaxed some. What put the Ibex's over the top on breaking in was using the Zamberlan Hydroblok treatment on the nubuk. I'll do the same on the leather portions of the Pamir soon, although with the ceramic super fabric - I guess I'll leave that untreated. I know Jason said it shouldn't stretch which is an advantage on wet hunts that can cause issues will fully leather hunting boots stretching too much.

As far as slip goes, next to none on my left which I have broken that ankle in the past so it is thicker and swells more, and maybe1/8" - 1/4" on the right. I'm hoping after fully breaking in I can lock the right down completely too. We'll see.

IMO you shouldn't have any. If my heels move I get bad blisters after a serious climb. I just bought a new pair this year after trying on and walking in every boot at the flagship REI, about a dozen boots. Only one of them worked for me, that is why I would never order this type of boot online.
