I think 6% is pretty substantial.
If you are that in the weeds about it I would look up the standard variation of the test.

Call stone glacier. Thats who told me the m7 was the m5 with a fleece backer.

If they had created an entire new textile for the m7 don't you think they would of tried to sell me on it?

Its litterly M5 with a fleece backer. As told by an SG employee in the SG showroom.
a bit late here. I spoke with a SG employee as well about this and was told the exact same thing. the description is miss leading, as others have mentioned it says the M7 is more waterproof than the M5. they also use a slightly defferent description to describe the materials of both. SG employee however contradicts this and said the M5 is more waterproof because the seam tape is directly applied to the hydrashield and the M7 is applied to the fleece which doesnt get as good of a bond. Makes sense, but why not advertise the M7 the same as M5 but with a fleece liner? The M7 probably feels more like a softshell because of the added fleece layer which would also explain why the jacket appears more quite and durable than the M5.
