What is everyone’s thoughts? The Stormtight is weighs less and comes in solids. It also is close to have the same spec on the breathability. Is the Yukon really worth it? I own the Yukon but was able to take a look at the Stormtight at the UT Expo this last weekend and am not sure which way to go.
Do either of the jackets fit the role of a full time outer shell?

Apples and Oranges

Yukon is much heavier and too warm for myself to use in any situation that demands rain gear and the ability to continue hiking without overheating. The FL rain gear works perfect for me and would be better compared to the Chugach, if anything.

I have the Yukon and use it whenever more than my merino is desired; it is rare that I take a softshell anymore as the breathability of the Yukon has impressed me.

I don't have experience with the stormtight but when considering breathability, you must also consider how effective the DWR is at keeping the face fabric dry. If the face fabric becomes damp, the breathability will be reduced. Toray DWR is not 100% effective (I don't think any waterproof "treatment" ever will be), but it is the best I have had experience with. If the First Lite performs as well in that respect, it would definitely be something to consider.

Also, if weight is a main concern maybe the Chugach is worth considering as well. I like using the Yukon as my stand alone outer layer as it seems a more supple and quiet.

Tons of rain here in BC and I went with the Yukon bottoms and Chugach NX top. Been working great for me. The heavier durability of the Yukon bottoms is well worth it for me as I seem to spend a lot of time on my knees while in camp. (No smartass cracks). Camped in a couple of real gravelly areas on my last Sheep trip. Would have torn the knees out of lesser pants with the cooking, fleshing, etc. The kneepads on the Yukon bottoms stood up excellent to all the abrasion. The NX top Keeps me nice and dry yet breathes awesome and is light/small enough that it could be considered packable.
