Kuiu Ultra 3000

I liked the layout of the Kuiu ultra bag, I could get my spotter and tripod in the back pocket which was nice.

I loved my 3000 ultra which I ran on the icon pro frame. I hauled two spring bears out with it in Idaho with no problem, and had countless multi day back pack and hunting trips with it, never an issue. Very comfortable and very light. I did recently give it to my girlfriend as she has been packing an 1800 ultra that had too big of a waste belt for her and it was way too small of a bag for our multi day trips and she really needed an up grade for an elk tag she drew this year. I have no doubt we will put many more kills in that pack before she's ready for an upgrade.

Yes I have experience with it. The ultra frame has what I would call a reduced suspension, the padding is a place they cut weight, and lost comfort at the same time. It is super easy to adjust and change bags on. I don't care for the strapping, the hardware and webbing are very reduced/small.

If you don't plan on heavy loads the ultras are great, but you'll suffer.compared.to other options with some mass in it. The Pro version is worth the extra coin if you really like their frame.

I'd consider waiting until the fall Kuiu sales, they are typically pretty good.

This^^^. I ordered the ultra, wasn't satisfied when it arrived. Sent it back for the icon pro and I'm happy now;)

To follow up on this, I actually bought an.ultra 1800 and 6000 for my dad since he's getting up there in age - really great system for him, he'll never push it to its limits. I had him pack out bone - in rear elk quarter between the 1800 and.frame, and a de-boned quarter another time in the 1800 bag itself.

What was impressive was the torsional rigidity of the frame under load. My Stone Glacier actually barreled a bit, under the same weight. So it might not be the greatest thing out there, but it certainly can perform.

I have liked my so far. It is very light and fits me well. I have had some hard hunts with it and shows little wear. I would like some more pockets but I knew what I was getting when I bought it. I am looking for a new pack but mostly because I want more pockets. I will most likely end up with a kifaru if I can find a bag that suits me. I live close to the shop and getting fitted is very appealing to me.
