So I have to start off by saying I own some KUIu . Love it! But sometimes I think companies try and do a little too much. They just released a new pair of pants that is specifically designed for traveling on airplanes and vehicles. It’s called the en route pant. Pretty crazy concept but I’m sure they will get some buyers. Maybe I’m just jealous because they’re figuring out a way to make money and here I am working a blue-collar job.

Its marketing. They are just pants..... I'll bet you could wear them to work or elk hunting and no one would call you out!!

I own a lot of KUIU gear and really like it. Their business plan has changed significantly since Jason passed. I don't think it's a bad thing, they're just a different company then they used to be.

Those en route pants look awesome for everything from Gym-Hunting-office.
I love the switchback pants (wear them every lift or hike day) far better than Kutanas and Attack pants to me. These seem like a great everyday pants that needs to be in the $75-85 range.

I have travel pants I wear when I want to be comfortable. The problem with all the travel pants made is they are made to stretch using polyester blends which means if you were to slide down an emergency escape slide on a plane, the pants have a good chance of creating a burn on your butt or legs. The low chance of that being a needed step in my travel is far outweighed by the comfort of full stretch breathable pants that don't give me wedgies or swamp butt. Also, these types of pants typically pack really well and are lighter than a standard issue pair of jeans.

I agree, this pair of pants seems a little higher priced than it should be, but really, the people paying 85-95 bucks for a pair of comfortable pants are going to pony the extra 30 bucks to get them for 129. It is a niche area some people really find useful, and others find useless. To each their own.

I think most of seasonal brands realize that, at some point in the growth cycle, you have become a lifestyle brand otherwise your revenue is highly seasonal.

All that being said, for as much Kuiu and Sitka I see at ski resorts, you'd think both would launch dedicated ski/snowboard lines.

That totally would make sense. I always found myself wondering y a hiking brand like North Face or Patagonia didn’t start a hunting line

I think there is the risk of disenfranchising their core consumer combined with the focus on growing in the broader market. Under Armor ultimately discontinued their hunting line. I'm sure shifting market demands and strategic business decisions were significant factors, but we're probably all kidding ourselves if we dismissed controversies and/or public relations issues related to hunting weren't factors. In fact, after UA, I doubt we'll ever see a mainstream recreational/sports brand delve into hunting again. Black Diamond did some limited co branding with Sitka a couple of years back, but BD is a far more specialized company than TNF or Patagonia.

True. I could see a major boycott happening in the hiking community if Noth Face promoted killing harmless animals 🤣

I'm guessing these are pretty similar to Prana's?

I doubt I ever try them, but I wish they would put phone pockets like that on more pants...

@maxx075 Reminder that inappropriate memes and or language can get you banned or a warning. Second offense is a ban.

And it had nothing to do with the discussion.

Definitely are more of the office/church pant. KUIU logo is not printed on the outside other than under where your belt goes.

I also think it has to do with the qaulity. You pay a premium, but I haven't worn out an article of kuiu clothing yet. If the gear isn't failing, no one is buying.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of anything that has come out in the last few years. I used to jump on some of their new stuff but found there isn't much I need anymore. All the latest hunting stuff was WT, turkey, duck hunting, none of which I do.

That being said, the down booties and Kutana hybrids may be on my list this year. Kutana is my favorite pair of pants they offer, or at least that I have owned, and I have a few.

I own a ton of Kuiu and this product is just dumb. It's almost insulting really. I have a bunch of the Wrangler Outdoor pants and wear them every day. They're excellent and I could buy 6 pairs for the price of one pair of Kuiu pants. I wish they'd stick to making awesome hunting stuff (which they do) and quit this gimmicky Yeti style sales strategy.

Jason is gone, it is a different company. Turkeys, whitetails and waterfowl. Not the same company.
