Kuiu storm star vs…

Well i have had a few free standing over the years and the msr hubba was the best as far as a hunting tent with a touch of durability.
Nemo and big Agnes both to fragile for me.
Best used for lightweight backpacking.
Big Agnes zippers snagged so easy I decided to send it back within 10 minutes of its first outing.
Msr hubba or look at msr’s stronger version.

Hike in a few miles and use it as a base camp in Wyoming,
Colorado and wherever else I plan a hunt
Assume early season due to username?
Are you actually sleeping 3 or just want room for gear with 2p?

We have a Big Agnes Blacktail 3, and a Durston xmid 2 that our family of five uses. The kids usually sleep in the blacktail, it would be tight with 3 adults, but doable. 2 people and gear is fine in the xmid with the vestibule space.
We've used our Big Agnes for a while and only issue so far is one of the plastic rainfly clips cracked, but it's still holding togesther.

The Storm Star (from the title) is 4 season, Mountain Star is a 3 season and is lighter than the storm star. If we're comparing the storm star, I personally prefer the Stone Glacier Skyscraper 2p. It's lighter and has more interior space with similar levels of durability and setup time. I also have a Mountain Star and it's a good 3 season tent, but I've been considering selling it to buy a Durston X-Dome 2. The X-Dome is lighter and has more interior space compared to the Mountain Star. The X-Dome also has a "solid" version that can be used as a 4 season option.

Edit: Disregard, I saw that you put 3p in the post but for some reason I read 2p...

Mid/late season actually. Gun hunt just as much as bow

Another vote for MSR hubba hubba.
I've ran the last 2 version of the hubba hubba over the last 8 years and no complaints.
Use it up in northern BC for August sheep hunts and September goat hunts.

You need a true 3p tent? Roomy 2p would be a Tarptent Scarp 2. It'll handle anything you throw at it.

I would mention the Tarptent ArcDome. You can buy the 2p but get the 3p interior. It ends up being one of the lightest “4 season” 3p tents on the market. Still not sure I’d ever put 3 in there though.
