I currently own both. I've had the Pelton 240 for a few years now and I really have enjoyed it. My only complaint is that it doesn't offer the right amount of warmth, that I'm looking for. I researched a bit of the active insulation ( PrimaLoft Evolve Active Insulation) and found RAB carried it in their line. Found a deal at local store and picked up the RAB Evolute Hoody. It offers that warmth I was looking for. I'm trying to see if someone has similar experience with these pieces (or pieces similar in other brands) and if they had to pick which one, and why.

Clearly the 240 has a more robust exterior, not as snug of a fit, and the thumb loops for layering are money! The RAB is instaly cozy and research says the active insulation is pretty amazing.

Edit: Most of my hunts are back packing in. I like to be light, but I want to have a few cozy things. Washington/Montana

The rab is warmer and will breathe better. Super comfortable and great fit for me. Peleton 240 has a little tougher face fabric and blocks wind a bit better. I like them both. Just depends on what you're looking for. That Rab is very similar to the Sitka Ambient series, which is very popular on here, for way less money. Im surprised it doesn't get more attention.

How do you run the RAB, layering wise? I like both pieces so much, but I like to obsess about hypothetical hunting scenarios to figure out if i'm missing something.

I don't have any particular way to wear it. Sometimes as an outer layer, sometimes under a heavier layer, just depends on the weather.

Ended up using my RAB more this season. It worked well in a bunch of different scenarios. Held up well under the pack straps. I was surprised at how well it managed wind, and help regulate my temps. I used it in Montana last week, packed out a nice buck with this and a thin merino base layer. Temps were below 32 but with the high output, it was great.

The Evolute doesn't do well when it comes to smells. My merino base layer, virtually no smell, but the Evolute in the armpit areas was ripe. Interesting how the base layer can transfer the sweat and smell to it but retain virtually none of it.
