Kuiu or Sitka........

I bought the Kuiu Proximity set last year and havent been that disappointed in a piece of equipment in a long time, if ever.

I know it’s just one piece in a wide line up of stuff they have. But it really kind of soured me on Kuiu in general.

I’ve found that Kuiu is great when it comes to western mountain hunting but so far their whitetail stuff needs improving. The Proximity set can be a little delicate and tears easily. At this point I’m enjoying my Sitka Stratus set for whitetails and the Fanatic set for colder weather. I really like Kuiu stuff but its durability needs to improve. I’m not brand loyal so for me, I buy and use what I’ve found works the best and if a better option comes along I’ll try it.

Just me- but if I’m wing shooting I want a pair of pants that won’t make me think twice about walking anywhere - briars or not.

Just an observation, why is it that people are always complaining about the price of these higher end clothing companies. Wear what you like or can afford, but it makes me chuckle to myself when I hear someone compare their cotton camo from 20 years ago to these newer brands. I’ve been slowly accumulating pieces from Kuiu and Sitka because once you sit in 20 mph wins at 20 degrees in a Sitka Fanatic, there are very few comparable options out there that can compare. People see the advertised prices for this gear and spout off about the cost, but if you watch the sales and scour the forums for certain pieces you can get top quality gear for half price. It just makes me wonder why people feel the need to complain about the prices of this gear because if you’ve ever used it you can see why there’s a following. After all nobody was asking what the most cost effective clothing was out there.

I have lots of kuiu gear for western hunts but I don’t ever use it for bird hunting.

I would 100% not use attack pants. I used them one year for deer hunting in Missouri and I still can’t some of the stick tights out of them.

Kuiu addict here. Mostly western hunting. Had some Sitka stuff, nothing wrong with it, but Kuiu is next level for most things. Their Guide Pro jacket is one of my favorite pieces. The Attack pants are another go to.

Forloh's BTM pants are pretty great for anything including brush. Lots of stretchy in the important areas and side zippers for hot days and tough canvas type paneling. The 280 retail is too steep for me but I got mine on sale and see them for sale used occasionally. Their Solair lineup is also really good for hot weather. All super comfortable stuff.

I have both and just get what I need. I have so much as well and especially for how often I hunt, which is like a week at most now. Sales and discounts is how I acquire. I will say I really do like the Kuiu base layers, especially the 97 Peloton(no bottoms but I did find another company that sells something basically identical in pants as the 97 top/matrial so I got them), I have a lot of tops before discontinued them and I have a few of each weight that are zippered before they discontinued them as well. There’s so many brands out there, I have actually started looking into hiking brands for clothing. If you’re doing a lot of hiking while hunting it makes more sense in my opinion and can be much cheaper than these brands. In the end, whatever makes sense to you and can afford, you do you, like everything else in the world, you’re just paying for the name.

I see a lot more Kuiu here in AZ. But I’m not a big fan of either Kuiu or Sitka for upland. I prefer a reinforced pants to take the wear and tear of thick brush and thorns. The Kuiu attack and katana pants won’t perform well in these situations
