Kuiu or Sitka........

What do y'all prefer between the two?

Over the past 10 years, I have accumulated a ton of Sitka. Currently, I have 95% of the Whitetail line up and 90%-95% of the Waterfowl line up. Since purchasing all of that gear, my time spent in pursuit of either (Whitetail and Waterfowl) has dropped off exponentially. I am to the point of being too deep into training/testing/hunting GSPs. I will still get out here and there to chase Whitetail and Waterfowl. However, the vast majority of my time now is in the upland fields.

Having said that, I am looking at who has the best line up for training/testing and wing shooting. Right now, I believe it is Kuiu. I have yet to purchase a piece from them that I do not like. Their Kutana pants are about the best thing going (except for briars/thorns). I've also tried gear from Orvis (some of which I like but they have gone down the toilet the last 3-4 years) and Bean. For me, in my opinion I think I prefer Kuiu over Sitka. At least when it comes to everyday apparel. I may venture into some Whitetail pieces.

That being said, Sitka will be releasing a line up dedicated to wing shooting within the next year. However, what that will consist of remains to be seen. I will say, the fishing line up looks nice. However, I am dumbfounded that they failed to put hip vents on their newest and lightest pants.

Thoughts from the peanut gallery......,

I too have a lot of Sitka gear, mostly the whitetail stuff. I have also accumulated many pieces of Kuiu. For upland hunting look at their Guide pro jacket, it's wind resistant not proof but breathes pretty well and stretches nicely when trying to round up the dogs. It's been pretty durable for me and is offered in the brown and blaze orange two tone. And if you have a Gov X account you get 10% off.

My opinion is neither have very good outer layers for upland hunting.

Fjallraven vidda pro vent pants are the best upland or brush pants I have ever worn. Running my drahts for pheasants, grouse or rabbits, they are the best.

Filson jacket for top or when it is warmer in have a welding shirt I got from tractor supply for $25 that is awesome.

Both have very good base or mid layers.

Stika and Forloh should not be worn in any kind of woods. Both of them can not handle the woods. These are for running around town and showing off your money.

Kuiu attack pants are fantastic for the woods.

I use the pyke northcut pants, were replaced by the Dakotas which are a modest improvement.

I maily use the orvis lt softshell jacket, nothing special, like an OR ferazzi but with blaze. Occasionally use the Pyke 3 layer shell if I hunt in the rain which i generally dont.

Final rise vest.

I currently am using the Scheels Endeavor pants. Awesome pants for mid-late season upland hunting. I punch cattails, willows, shelter belts, etc. and they have held up very well. They are not an early season/warm weather pant though. If I get my new dog in October as scheduled, I'll probably pick up the new Endeavor Lite pants. Right now for early season roosters, I'm generally just wearing Sitka Grinder pants. I have 4 pairs of those so not too worried if they catch on some briars or branches.

But he's asking about upland and if there is a weak point in attack pants, that's it. Foxtail sticks to them terribly as do beggars lice.

Agree, Attack pants aren't great for upland.

I moved on from an old pair of orvis to first lite sawbuck pants. So glad I upgraded. But might be a little thick for hot days.

Who gives a sh!t who has the "best line up" for anything (other than the OP and I really hoped this was a satire post but alas, it doesn't seem to be)!? Pick the pieces from each company that best fits your needs and go hunt with it. I've got everything from Sitka to Kuiu to Walmart to Carhartt. Use what works, sell what doesn't. Time spent worrying about this dumb stuff is better spent hunting, shooting, or training your dog not debating online.

For upland game I would never wear any outerwear from Sitka, Kuiu, or FL. Stuff is too expensive and not rugged enough to trash while chasing birds. For Western big game I wear mostly Kuiu and some FL.
