Kuiu load slings

Are kuiu load slings sold separately on their icon packs? I ask because I purchased a 5200 after last season and am now finally getting a chance to play with it. The description on the website makes it sound like a load sling is built into the pack. I've even checked out a few kuiu YouTube videos...and my pack has nothing like it. My bag simply buckles to the carbon frame with no type of sling or webbing. So curious if their load slings have to be purchased separately or if mine is missing something.

Yes separately, but most guys just sandwich it between the frame.

Ok thanks. Kinda bittersweet I guess. Wish they'd be clear in the description that the load sling is sold separate, but I guess good to know I didn't get screwed.

Are you saying most just sandwich a quarter between the bag and frame with an extra compression strap or two?

I add two sea to summit accessory straps 3/4" one meter long and thread them through the frame where the kuiu compressions do. This allows me to secure a load against the frame independent of the bag and you don't have to smash the bag so much. Got the idea from the original icon frame.

They call it "load sling mode" when you sandwich the load between the bag and the frame. You can also purchase the load sling seperate for the times when you don't have a bag and just want the ability to haul loads. (maybe a second, third, fourth trip to haul meat without the bag?)
I was confused at first too and ended up having to buy the sling seperate later becasue I originally thought it was all part of the system.

Definitely misleading regardless. Here is the description right from the website for the 5200. The way it reads, why wouldn't you think it includes the load sling, right?

Maybe what Kuiu is calling the sling is just the packs ability to separate the bag from the frame making additional room and what I thought was the sling is the actually the load hauler...the actual webbing/material that supports the underside of the load?!?

My assumption was based of of multiple kuiu videos showing how to convert an Icon bag into 'load sling mode' and there was clearly a component I was missing. But never did it mention the component was an additional add-on piece.

The Icon Pro in 'load sling' mode is simply sandwiching a load in between the frame sheet and the bag. This is done by loosening the connections and pulling the bag out away from the frame. There are two webbing straps on the bottom between the frame and bag that will help support the load.

The cargo panel / load hauler accessory is a separate item. This is to be used separate, without the bag attached.

Hope this helps

Like it was stated above. They could be clearer in their terminology. The separate cargo panel with the icon pro for me is isn't really necessary, doesn't save much weight compared to an empty bag and doenst secure the load and better or worse, or at least not enough to warrant the hassle of of switching the bag for load hauler for extra trips.
