kuiu/first lite money burning a hole in my pocket

I've got money set aside for a full kit from one of these companies from base layers all the way up to insulation and hard shell if they ever have product in stock. It seems everytime I log on I see "out of stock" or "backordered" on a majority of the sizes and patterns. With the popularity of high end hunting clothing combined with the fact that its tax season, one would think these companies would crack the whip a bit and get some product on the shelves! My next option is kryptek but I really want to stick with merino as much as possible. Anybody else getting fed up with this??

Lack of supply is very frustrating. I don't have 9 months to wait for a piece of clothing to be back ordered that I can get within a month from a comparable company . It has definitely influenced my purchasing behavior.

Since it seems they all have gear made overseas, they're all gonna be fully re-stocked around the same time. I wouldn't count on any of the hunting clothing companies having any real stock of new stuff until the summer. They all make great gear so piece together the best pieces that fit your needs and budget.

For what its worth, I spoke to Kuiu last week and they are saying they received an update from the port and they're anticipating all backorders should be fulfilled by the end of April. I don't own any Firstlite due to price point, but I have heard nothing but great things. I have mostly Kuiu and really like all of my pieces.

If you are set to go with one of the two you mentioned then hold out until you can't any longer before you go with Kryptek. Don't take this wrong Kryptek is good clothing but its not in the same class as First Lite and Kuiu. Nothing wrong with Sitka but at full retail your money will not go as far.

I just ran into the same problem I went with core 4 element system, nice stuff and the cash I saved I got a new bow too!

I went with Sitka. Best hunting clothes I've used. Similar build and quality to the Arc Teryx ski/mountaineering gear I use.
A hunting buddy uses both First Light and Kuiu. Nothing but good to say about it.

Agree with the above statements. Sitka gear is awesome and at times you can find it of for 20% off. Their gear is solid and they do not have the backorder or transparancy issues as some of the other hunting companies. The mountain pant is one of my favorite pieces of hunting clothing.

I feel ya bud. I talked my wife into outfitting us both in First Lite head to toe but nothing is in stock. I spoke with their customer service rep and the will be restocked in all merino by the end of March and all outerwear by Mid July. Hope that helps

What I don't get is that as expensive as these clothes are you would think they would be sure to have a good stock on hand for tax return season. You can drop a couple grand plus easy at any of the higher end technical hunting clothiers.

Why do you want a full kit from just one? If anything get FL merino bases, both Kuiu and Kryptek have merino but nothing compares to FL, they are the best :)

I have ran Kuiu and it is good but I have been running Kryptek for the past few years and it is good stuff, you can usually get both Kryptek and FL for a good deal before the New Years inventory comes in, Kuiu who knows when you'll get to fully set yourself up.

The truth is you can't go wrong with Kuiu, FL, Kryptek or Sitka, it is all great gear and some tend to forget this. We are very lucky as the consumers and what we can get, if it is instock.

For Kryptek and FL if you want the best deals don't buy direct. Checkout high mountain outfitters website, they usually have great sales this time of the year.

I have gear from both, but if you were going to force me to go with one or the other, I'd go firstlite no question.

I have both for merino wool base. The first lite is more loose fitting to the Kuiu but for quality I think they are both equal. I have Sitka for the outer layer.
