I just got a Kuiu bino harness and was wondering if using the lens caps is necessary? It looks well padded inside and I think the caps would be a pain and defeat the ease of using it.

Guess I'm that guy but I use mine. Its a tight fit and they get pulled off by the harness when I deploy the binoculars which is convenient. Replace the covers and drop them back in. I always worry something will be trapped in the bottom and scratch the lens

I always run my binos with the caps on, I dont know why they made the inside of the bino harness furry, you will soon find it full of small sticks, stones and other crap than ruin your lens, caps are cheap insurance in my book.

I don't run lens caps. Kind of defeats the purpose of the pouch. IMO if you use caps might as well just use the keeper strap instead of the pouch to save weight.

I am that guy as well and still use the caps...just figure with 2k binos more protection to preserve my investment. Not required for sure.

I don't see any need to use the lense covers with a fully enclosed case or otherwise. The objective lense on most binoculars are recessed ~1/4", so it would take debris that is far larger than anything I have ever found in my case to be able to reach the lenses to scratch them.

I guess it wouldn't be to hard to try it with them on and if not liking it change up.

Be careful to clear the bottom of your pouch of all pine needles, rocks and other debris regularly. I neglected to do this and scratched the lenses on my binos last year. Lesson learned.

I've been out groundhog hunting using the lens caps and the objective caps are no problem but I might not use the eye caps. Love the harness.
