I was wanting to know if sitting still in 20* with 10 mph wind which one is warmer. I would have a peloton 240 and base layer on under.

I would want both, 280 under the axis. Base layer/240 and either of those alone you are still going to be cold after some time passes.

I have both and as far as warmth the axis is a little warmer if you are going to buy just one the axis is better when weather hits ie rain or snow but 20 degrees sitting still after awhile i think you would get cold just wearing one of those last year i had 2 base layers wool and then a heavyweight sitka and then the axis jacket hunting in below 20 a few days and i was fine but i was only standing still for no more than a hour

I’ll second this. I have both, and while the 280 is great, and very warm, it’s not windproof. The axis is windproof and much more water resistant than the 280 as well, being a shell. Both would be optimal, but one over the other, I’m taking the axis.

Agree with all that has been said before. Sitting still for hours in 20 degrees is not what these pieces were designed for either. Certainly can make things work for that application, but in my mind there are some better offerings to do that job better.
