The more pants I try, the more I keep going back to my kuiu attack pants, but my beef (and many others) is the lack of a knee pad. Post-season boredom set in quickly, so I set out to fix this issue with my favorite pants.
I sacrificed an old Sitka core lightweight hoody as my pocket material, and ordered some 6mm neoprene from Amazon, then my wife sewed in the pockets. Everything is double stitched.
The pockets are square 9”x9” and are stitched to a small opening at the bottom, so no need for Velcro or something like the SG solution to keep them from falling out. The neoprene is cut 6” wide x 8” long.
Just testing them out the 6mm neoprene seems like it will take the edge off nicely when crawling or kneeling, and still move with me. It is neoprene, so it won’t breathe, but it will be water resistant.
I like it so much, I did the same with my other two pairs of attack pants. Excited to put these to work winter snowshoeing and then spring bear hunting.
