KUIU 2 Man Tent

I had one, no issues with the tent except,,, I personally didn’t like the fly being attached, it seemed like every time I went to set it up in a hurry the fly would be all twisted up and take a bit to sort out, a couple of times the Little kids could set their REI half dome up before the ol pro Pa would!

I have a Kuiu Mountain star 2 man. I like it and it is pretty solid in high winds . I would never want to sleep 2 guys in it because there is not enough room. Packs nice and small, lightweight and so far I’ve never been wet in it. I spent 10 nights in it last fall.....no problems I like the tent.

Not to highjack the OPs thread but fitting two people into the tent is feasible though?

Have you used the tent? Brooks was saying two small for guys and gear. I’d assume if your packing light the Vestibules are large enough you could sleep 2 but you’ll be right next to each other.

No I haven’t. I also have been considering the Kuiu Mountain Star over Big A, MSR, Marmot, North Face etc....or going the Seek Outside Cimarron w/stove route. I wonder how warm the tent stays when it’s hovering around negative outside.

That’s what I’m looking at too.
Big A, Kuiu, Seek Outside Silvertip, Cimarron, MSR and Klymit.

There is no way am I hunting and hiking all day then getting in that tent with a hunting buddy, you would be right up tight to each other. As a one man tent I like it as a two man no way.

I have used the KUIU Mountain-Star (with carbon poles) for about five years when sheep hunting with my adult daughter, as well as using it solo on pack-raft/fly-fishing floats. My daughter is pretty tiny, so it's not much of a tight fit, but I wouldn't want to do two big guys...that's just me though because I like my space.

I've been through some tough wx in that tent, including a heavy snow, and it's been fine. I've not had a wind storm with blowing side-ways rain. Condensation has not been a problem, and it's a pretty quick set-up. I do apply a silicone spray to the fly every year, which I think really helps.

AKDoc, how was it with shedding the snow with the external poles?

Also, how was temperature regulation?

Good question...first let me define "heavy snow" better...it was an inch or two of wet (heavy) snow; not a foot of snow (heavy). Shedding the snow I'm describing was just fine around the tent poles along the sides of the tent...no problem. The top of the tent is flatter, and it would tend to stick more there, but then eventually slide-off.

Does that help?

AKDoc, yes perfect! I shouldn’t be running into any snow but that’s good to know just in case.

For me it is a reasonably well ventilated tent, which decreased the condensation challenges of other tents. With increased air circulation adds colder outside air entry into the tent, but I never felt that as a temperature challenge. That said, I prefer to sleep with good air circulation and have my sleeping bag keep me warm.

Perfect thank you AKDoc!!!

And OP hope this helps you as well figured no reason to start a new thread and just keep getting all those curious more info here.
