KS HB 2423 Allow Hunters to use Drones to recover wounded or dead deer

I'd be ok but you'd have to punch your tag before you launch the drone. And if it's a state that allows multiple deer you can't hunt in that zone anymore.

I'm pretty anti drone for everything related to hunting but the landowner permission thing, FAA license, and these ^ conditions would make it much better than it would be without that stuff.

Fair point. How would you search after hours? In many cases would we be searching in the dark? My main objection to use of drones is the sound disturbance/ disruption for other hunters. That might not apply everywhere they would be employed though, but if one is used near me you bet it would annoy me.
What do you think would be more disturbing to other Hunters? Someone flying a drone overhead, a hunter walking through the woods while grid searching for a wounded animal while also leaving their scent everywhere, or a tracking dog also going running through followed by a tracker. I am not weighing into wether or not the drones should be used, just saying that I think a drone would actually be far less disturbing to deer and other hunters than the latter two options.

I don't think these drones are the ones that most people buy off amazon,in fact I bet most of the services use thermal drones.I have seen some pretty high dollar ones and it would be tough to see a deer with them unless thermal.

I live and hunt mostly western mountains. Big wide open spaces. Every couple years the north woods of MN & WS. Sight and sound of drones no bueno. Another guy searching grid for his elk/deer no problem. Been a part of hunting forever. Tech isn’t making hunting better. Maybe easier. One could argue it’s a major cause of many of the issues we are having. I am talking drones and disturbance caused by them. Not activities that already occur. Would drones minimize or eliminate that? Maybe. And for emphasis: why keep adding things to the mix that increase the amount of regulations we have to obey??

Read a story of a guy doing it. He's using a search and rescue drone with a thermal, wide angle camera, 200x zoom camera, and a spotlight. Said he flies day or night and prefers the evenings due to cooler weather and easier to see temp difference.
