Guys,
I usually do not post anything, but I have a hunt coming up. And maybe it should be the n the Blacktail forum. But how many of you have used kryptek in kodiak. And how has it held up. It’s done wonderfully for me in Idaho for muledeer.

I can’t say how it holds up on Kodiak but I took one hell of a tumble off a mountain and my kryptek held up MUCH better than my body

Well it’s done a lot better than my body. I am starting to get a few years on me. So far it’s been as good as what they advertise. Hunting in Indiana this last winter it was pretty wet. And got pretty cold also.

I wear kryptek pants and they have held up great for me. In full disclosure I don’t have a lot of options with my inseam as I am 6’8” tall but they’ve been good for me.

I didn't love the durability of some of the earlier Kryptek offerings. In fact I had a set that had to be retired after ONE sheep hunt. It was destroyed. The new Altitude line is a different story. Though expensive, the stuff is as good as it gets.

Thanks for the help. Right now I am running the Vellus line I believe. But I really want to pick up a second set to have as a backup. I'll take a look at the Altitude.

Man I would think at 6'8'' that it would be pretty hard to get hunting clothing at all. And pretty dang expensive also. Luckily I am only 5'10 so its pretty easy for me.

Yeah for sure it sucks. The kryptek pants have fit me the best but other then those havent really found any (quality) pants that fit very well.

I really like the Kryptek that I have - pants, shirts, hoodies. Haven't tried the raingear.
Kuiu is highly regarded, but I can't speak from experience. Guess that doesn't matter if you can't get it.

I’ve got the kryptek rain gear and I love it. Hunted the thick brush after turkeys this spring. No problems. And pouring rain almost the entire season!

I use a fair amount of of kryptek. The fit like all hunting clothes seems to be high and tight. I'd prefer it more relaxed so I size up.

Size offering is my only gripe with kryptek. At my slimmest I'm a 40" waist . They no longer offer extended sizes in the pants. Confirmed on email today. Not happy about that.

Kuiu had a " no fat guy in the mountains" Mentality, which is why id never give them my money. Hopefully kryptek isn't going that path.

This spring I was working in Kentucky and the weather was terrible. At times it was rain and snow, but mine worked well. Having never been to Kodiak I am just wondering how it holds up to the brush.

I've got quite a bit of Krptek pieces. I've got the Koldo raingear, I like it alot, but I've rarely had to really put it to the test, as we just dont get day after day of constant rain in CO, WY, MT, or NE where I hunt most. I have a pair of Valhalla pants, that I actually really like but the button has come off, and the stitching is unravelling in spots. They made it through 3 seasons of pretty hard hunting though. The fabric also piles pretty bad where you go through briars and stickers. I also have the Alios pants and I do not like them nearly as well as the Valhalla, but they are thicker material. The pieces I like the best are actually the Vellus set. I use it for tree stand hunting whitetails, and wear it out on late season tags or rabbit hunts.
Overall, its decent quality gear, and if you get in on clearance prices, a good value. I dont have any experience with the Altitude line however, so I would hope at those prices, that quality and construction would reflect it. The pieces

I totally agree, I’ve run the kryptek for a while. And to be honest it’s worked really well. To be honest it’s been really wet the last few years. And my stuff has held up really good. It’s held up through heavy rain an freezing temps in Indiana and Kentucky. Plus worked really well when I head out west. I need another set for one of my trips this year. But I just can’t make myself spend more for a pair of pants or a jacket than I would for second pair of what I am already using. And it’s proved itself to me.
