Kryptek Valhalla/Kuiu Tiburon gear?

Just have a general question for anyone that has used both of these pants and or shirts. I have to run warm to very hot weather gear for 80% of my hunting, I currently run the Valhalla and it works great, a little on the delicate side, not the best for bushwhacking as it snags easily. Never used the Tiburon stuff but it seems like it’s marketed toward the hot weather side.
So anyone with experience with the Tiburon, or even better both, care to weigh in on how the Tiburon is for hot weather hunting? Btw, I’m down in Florida. Thanks

I've been scouting in the Tiburon pants this year in 80-90 degree weather here in NorCal and they've been the best I've had so far for cooling. I especially like the vent zips on the side, as I can leave them open while not having ticks get onto my legs. We did some pretty solid bushwhacking through a burn area and while we ended up with natural black camo stripes all over us, the pants surprisingly held up fine.

I'm in Hawaii and I primarily use Tiburon. So far it's held up pretty well for a handful of outings. I beleive the thorns and brush that got through to me would've gone through anything. I also have a few of their solid colors to wear when not in the field. If not Tiburon, I also have some synthetic Peloton shirts and Attack pants. All good stuff but get one size larger if you don't want things a little snug (fitted).

i dont think you can beat the tiburon for hot weather pants. i havent run the valhallas but ive ran just about everything else and it doesnt even look like they have hipzips so i doubt theyd be cooler than the tiburons. the hipzips help out a lot and the fabric has little holes in them for even more breathability. i got some leg snaps too i put on the botttom so i can roll up the pant legs to dump even more heat. next best thing would be shorts

On another note, any of you guys have experience with merino or synthetic base layers? Do they help as a base layer to something like the Tiburon’s? I hear guys talk a lot about how it keeps them cooler by drawing sweat away from the body, but it just seems like it would be really hot. Again, this is warm/hot weather hunting. Thanks again.

If you're using Tiburon as warm weather clothes, I wouldn't use anything as a base layer. I think that would defeat the purpose of the micro dot air technology. If it's too cool in the morning, I use one of the rain jackets until it warms up.

u wont need baselayers under the tiburons unless your hunting in weather below 50 degrees imo

i disagree. just hold them up to a light. pranas are great pants but for me more all around pant. 40s-mid 70s temps

That’s a great shot. That’s exactly what I’m looking for (the Tiburon’s). 70’s -80’s are cool days around here. We’re already hitting triple digits and I need some gear that’s gonna keep me cool.

Yeah you can hold them up to the light all you want but my experience wearing them back to back on the same days has been that I cant tell much difference unless the vents are open. As long as you dont go into it expecting them to be almost as good as shorts you will be fine. The vents are what really makes them good.

The Tiburon pants are far better in heat than the Valhalla. Not really even a fair match, as the Valhalla would fall closer to Sitka Ascent than anything Kuiu offers. To me my prana stretch zions "bake" me in direct sun and heat. I don't know what it is but if I'm sitting in direct sun or something similar its very very hot on my legs, noticably more than my upper body. I like the zions but they Chafe me pretty bad hiking due to the little sewn air vents in the crotch like a baseball hat and they are hot when its hot and not very warm when its even a little cool or windy. I wear them often for work but never depend on them hunting.

Tiburon's are not the most durable and will pill in the brush but there is NO other pant out there that will breathe like them and that is before you open the hip vents up and then they blow away any competition. I have not tried the SKRE unita but that would be the only other pant that might come close.

also op these columbia silver ridge shorts in the british tan camo or peat moss color in a 12 inch inseam are a good option too for when its middle of summer and pants are just too hot. theyre discontinuing those colors though and the newer camo colors arent as good as a camo pattern

Tiburons were my first piece of “premium” hunting clothes and are still my absolute favorite. They’re the ultimate California pants. They’re cool enough that I usually wear them backpacking and then don’t have to put the extra weight in my pack. Highly recommend. The zip t is good too, haven’t tested it as much but it will get a lot of use this summer/fall.

I’ve used the tiburons for a while now. They are definitely great in hot weather. The zip T shirt was a good piece also. Anything over 90 degrees and the tiburon is hands down the beat.

They seem to be out of stock in the zip T's as I havent seem them for a while. Luckily I got one beforehand. I have the snap shirts in the solid colors and like them for casual work/play. I don't think I want a formal collar out in the field. But if they had it in some lighter colors, I would get it for upland bird use.

i did not like the tibruon zip t at all. the material wouldnt absorb any sweat so if you wear it as a base layer you get super hot sweaty and clammy esp with a pack on. i would throw it in my pack and use as a pullover for cool mornings or evenings but that was it until i sold it. favorite hot weather top is the sitka lightweight hoodie its awesome. keeps the sun off you neck all day and dries out super fast. half zip really cumps heat and facemask is sweet for bowhunting. its more comfortable in the heat than merino too. i am a fan of merino/synthetic blends like the FL aerowool though. never really liked any of the kuiu base layers tops. the lightweight merino took forever to dry and isnt as cool as the aerowool or sitka synthetics. also smelled terrible when wet. the peloton was a little better for hot weather but got funky fast too. synthetics are also more durable than merino but ya sitka lightweeight hoody and kuiu tiburon pant is my go to hot weather setup. (im not one that needs to have matching camo)

I hunt Hawai’i and I normally rotate between tiburons and the new Sitka ascents. For me, they are both great for hot muggy weather.

I also have the Skre Unitas and they are similar to the tiburons.

I think I actually prefer the ascents, but I wish they had hip zips. Someday Sitka will catch up and start using hip zips.
