Hi all,
I have the plan on hitting Colorado for a first backcountry elk hunt and would appreciate help on what clothes to take. I am an notorious over packer on any kind of travel I do so I am trying to get opinions on what I should not take. Plus I am going to be using kryptek and its hard to find information in comparison to FL, sitka etc. This is going to be the first or second week of September. I have done a ton of stand hunting in Ohio and the south but that is a different ballgame. What I have right now is below:
Top:
Valhalla 1/2 zip
Valhalla long sleeve
Merino LW long sleeve base
Dalibor 3 jacket
Bottoms:
Valhalla pants
Poseidon pant
I have plans to get some medium weight merino base bottoms to get me through possible cold spells with the valhalla pants but also have the idea to grab a pair of alaios pant that are a good price for my ridiculous 6'5" sizing.
Also, plan on getting a rain jacket but might pick up a vellus jacket as a rain/overkill heavy jacket in case of real cold. I'm not a fan of being cold so overkill is the game I play.
1. Would it be worth it to pick up and take a pair of alaios pants in addition to the valhallas?
2. Is the vellus way overkill this time of year? should I just get a straight rain jacket?
I also have hopes to make it home to Ohio to hunt the November rut so the heavier versions could be useful in the chaos of weather that is Ohio.
Appreciate thoughts. thanks
