Looking to add a big spotter to my current Kowa TSN-55s. Looks like the review out there have these pretty close besides the light gathering. I was wondering if anyone had things to say about either. Also seems like a Kowa generally is better optically than the Swarovski of this objective lens. Thanks!

I had an 88 and it was "borrowed" from my pickup. Bought a 99 and really like it. It is a pain to pack when mule deer hunting, but once set up you have the ability to do some serious glassing. Now if I still had the 88 would I have missed not having the 99, doubt it. There is a difference, but if you can get a great deal on the 88 go for it, if you can get a great deal on the 99 go for it.

The 99 is big and front heavy. It does produce a phenomenal image though. The 88 gives an amazing image, is more packable and more balanced when switching between binos and spotter and doesn’t shift the tripod near as much.

I just spent 9 days scouting with the 99, and I’ll be going back to the 88 personally.

I almost upgraded from the 88 to 99 earlier this year but decided against it. Same reasons as above, 88 really seems like a sweet spot of packability and performance. I pack my 88 a lot, if I was just truck glassing I would probably go with the 99.

That does make sense regarding the portability. Tsn88 weight wise its a lil lighter but seems like tsn-88 really is the biggest scope size wise you would pack.
