I recently purchased a Kowa TSN 773 spotting scope here on rokslide classifieds and I would like to verify the serial number to make sure it is legit. ( I know I should have done this prior to buying but since they discontinued the 773 I didnt want to pass it up. ) I'm having trouble getting in contact with someone at Kowa, I've called a dozen times and left multiple messages but cant seem to get a response back. Does anyone possibly have a inside contact at Kowa that can help verify the serial number?

Why wouldn't they be legit? Is making fakes of Kowa spotting scopes a lucrative business?

I’ve heard stories of people purchasing name brand spotters off the internet and getting knock offs. I can’t say I’ve heard it happen with a Kowa but I figure verifying the serial number is just a way to be sure.

The spotter is legit. There’s no knock offs. And Kowa has EXCEPTIONAL customer service.
I wouldn't call my experience with Kowa customer service "EXCEPTIONAL". It was adequate, and I do believe they stand behind their products, but it wasn't always easy to get ahold of someone and I didn't always know what was going on. In the end, my scope was repaired, it just took a bit to get the process going and I had no idea where it was in the process until the day it unexpectedly showed back up at my house.

That said, I own two Kowa scopes and don't intend to sell either one. Great glass.

This has been my experience as well. I’ve had two very minor things I’ve needed replacement parts for. I emailed, had no idea if they received it or not, no response, but received the parts in my mailbox one day in a semi timely fashion.

How long ago was this? I’m guessing not within the last 3-4 years.

Mine was about a year ago. I will say I think I got a better response when I called than with emails.

Following this thread as I am considering a Kowa and details on their customer service are slim to none....perhaps @Mark at EXO or someone from Sand's archery can chime in...(if it weren't for them I probably wouldn't be considering Kowa in the first place).

I don't work on the S&S side at all, so I don't deal with Kowa customer service directly. I am sure that @S&S Archery (Rob) would have great information for you. Give him a shout directly: (208) 495-4222
