Both are excellent optically. The GPO Passion 10x42 HD is a slimmer design and is 4 ounces lighter than the Kowa Genesis 10.5x44

In my opinion, the Vortex UHD is superior to either, but will cost a little more on the retail market.

I've had the GPO Passion HD 10x42's for two seasons now and I love them. Build quality is very nice and solid w/o being too heavy, great focus wheel & eyecups, and excellent image quality as well. I've compared them side-by-side with my friends Swaro SLC's on many occasions and they definitely hold their own - it may just be because I'm more adjusted to them, but I prefer the GPO's.

No experience with the Kowa though.

Sleeker design (easier to single hand hold) and lighter weight, go with the GPO
