Kodiak Brown Bear Spring vs Fall

I wanted to hunt Kodiak for the larger skulls but at the same time I don’t want one rubbed out.

Hunt 1st week of May and that problem is rare

My mother in law drew a spring Kodiak brown bear tag, i want to make sure she gets her best chance at a bear. Not necessarily going for a giant, but how early is too early? We are thinking about the first two weeks of April and trying to snag a few goats before the registration tag is up (end of March).

First week of May is like the alarm comes on for them to show often...

You'll be happy on either hunt. Fall is the salmon run, spring is when the come out of their dens. If ya want to support veterans look in to Jason Bunch at Kodiak Backcountry Adventures. Another guide is Rick Hoskins. Both retired military and I was stationed with both in Kodiak. I only hunted with them one time each since I was a resident and could do my own thing.
