I am looking for a knife with a very specific shape to it. I have a Winchester Barrens that I grabbed for $20 when I needed a cheap throw away. I grabbed it when I was in a hurry one afternoon when the bou were moving and now its field dressed 4 caribou and a moose, but its hard to keep sharp because its cheap. I love the blade profile with the big belly, and the small curved handle. The whole thing is probably 6" long.

I would gladly pay a good sum for a knife with the same profile but out of a quality steel. I just haven't found one. Figured I would take a stab at posting it up here and seeing if anyone knows of a similar knife.

I think the hunter skinner from half face blades looks similar but the price and availability is ridiculous

Look at nessmuk style knives. That blade shape is very similar. LT wright knives camp muk is pretty close.

Bark River makes the jx5 and 6 for bush crafter dude his designs. Actually looks like that knife a bit if a copy but like above very functional.

The original Canadian belt knife by grohman is good, but their steels aren’t great.

Lawnbio is right about LT wright’s version. But for me I like a bit more belly.

Benchmade builds a nice knife with good steel. The Saddle Mountain Skinner is a really good knife with good steel. They also have an Ever Sharp policy. If you don't or cannot sharpen a knife worth a darn or you have know one who can do it for you. Ship the knife to them, they will sharpen it, make sure all is right with the knife, and ship it back to you for no charge.

Here's another one from Benchmade. It's a little more compact and has a thicker belly on it.

Believe it's called the Hidden Canyon.
I looked at this at Sportsman’s. I hated the handle. It was not very comfortable in the hand. They have a molded rubber handle on another knife tho and I thought about a custom order.

Did you handle and feel the Saddle Mountain Skinner at all. I bought one of these for a friend of mine after his brother passed away and had it engraved in remembrance of his brother. He sure likes it.

No, not the profile I’m looking for. The knife shape I am looking for works really well for unzipping a caribou gut without it exploding because it’s easier to guard the tip with a finger.
