Knife recommendation - Better alternative to Buck 119?

Helping a buddy out. He was wanting to get a Buck 119. He really likes the size and blade style. Is there a better option than a 119 at a similar price? Thanks

I doubt it. B is a great company. 420HC steel is pretty solid and for the price, probably not beatable. I was gifted that knife as part of a wedding party and I've used it pretty hard. No complaints. Not the one I reach for to process and animal, but good all around fixed blade camp knife, I think.

Buck 119 is a great knife.

Only cheaper option I know of is Harbor Freight's generic knockoff for about 1/3rd the price:

I bought one back in the late 80s for a camp knife. I cant tear it up. It lives in the pouch behind the drivers seat in my pick up so I alway have it. I always want on that had a bone handle but never sprang for it.

I have this buck 658 and like it a lot, number 1 killer of knives is them getting lost in the woods

If he likes Buck and it’s for hunting, I would consider the buck vanguard knife.
