Knee Pain & Compression Sleeves

My backpacking has lead to some periodic knee pain. It usually passes after a week or two so it has to be old age and added strain from packing rather than something serious requiring medical attention and i am curious if using something like the Copperwear Knee Sleeves would help. Do those stupid looking things actually work or is compression all BS or even harmful? Thinking I might try em for my next mountain trek if they are worth the coin. TIA

So appropriate this post is, as I ordered two of those sleeves a week ago but have yet to receive them. I figure it is worth the $30 bucks to try it.

Any particular type better or more comfortable than others? Price is not a consideration. Thx.

I have only used 2XU, as that is what was given to me. I have a full set- L/S shirt, S/S shirt, shorts, socks and tights. They also gave me a set of recovery socks and tights.

I have not used the shirts at all. I can't really think of a use for them. I've tried them on and they just seem uncomfortable.

The shorts are used for long walks in the mountains under a pack. They keep my legs warmed up and prevent chaffing.

I use the socks for my long runs. That's it. They seem to keep my feet from feeling numb at the six mile point and my calves don't hurt nearly as much after the run, or even after a couple days after the run.

The tights are only used as a recovery tool. I sleep in them after a long run or harder workout.

Personally, I haven't noticed a difference in performance between the regular or recovery items, both seem to work for any application that I use them for.
