Knee Length Base layer

Has anyone found a "short length" base layer for cold conditions?

I am looking for something longer than merino boxers, but shorter than 3/4 length. Something that goes over my boxers and down to my knees like shorts you wear during the summer, but fit like baselayers and are warm.

I tried cutting a base layer to the desired length and they ride up as I hike, given they aren't form-fitted.

Turns out I didn't like them at all acd went back to full length. Always seem to ride up
