I think new codes require AAVs to be installed. It's new to me. They may allow air in for proper drainage while preventing sewer fumes to escape. Kind of like a back draft damper on an exhaust vent. Just a guess on my behalf.

Or convince your wife that her old sink is just fine and no need to be like every othere basic white girl with their farm sinks.
The first thing I fixed when we moved into our current house 20 years ago was replace that useless expensive porcelainized cast iron double sink with a large stainless single basin sink. My wife couldn't have cared less, but I don't tolerate useless very well.

Ditch the garbage disposal. If your on septic it fills your tank with hard to digest solids. If on city sewer your just sending your problems to them. They are noisy, stinky, "convenience" relics from the past.

Normal double sink are complete POSs. I'd take a single large sink over a double any day of the week.

Any chance of changing sink with one that has off set drain connection.
Offset drain connection is so much nicer. I wish I had done it yeaaaaars ago.

I like a large stainless sink with offset drain. I don’t care how “basic white girl” it is. It’s just so much more convenient.

That will work, but I would redo the piping and clean things up personally, you might even be able to do that without buying anything new.

I'm the one who decided to replace the double sink with a work station stainless one. If I ever move, one of the first things will be replacing the sink if it doesn't already have a work station sink. Tight radius corners are a must though, none of the 90 degree crap that is hard to clean, and none of the traditional bowl sizes radius that takes up space.

I don't really care if that is basic white girl or not.

Calling it a farm sink is bloody stupid though as I don't live on a farm.

No changing now. We replaced counter tops.

Ok does this look like my fix? I’ll have to replumb the riser but that’s in my arsenal, I think. 😂

First picture shows current situation, not enough room.

Second picture shows fix. Cut, rotate, add sleeve.
