Super excited to bring everyone this episode with @Kootenaybackwoods all about his grind of a season to get this giant mule deer buck in the timber. He goes over such good tactics and really dives into the reality of what it takes to get it done on purpose on a stud buck like this. I hope you guys enjoy the episode half as much as I enjoyed recording it. It was a great one.

You can listen to the episode here or wherever you like to listen to your podcasts: https://www.rokslide.com/killing-a-timber-giant/

Thanks again to Aquila - @Kootenaybackwoods - for doing the show and sharing this awesome big buck story.

This is gonna be one of the most timeless episodes.

He did everything right when it came to this buck. And knowing that track from the others in the area is what sealed the deal.

Luck always has the last word, yeah, I get it but he didn't leave much to luck.

@Kootenaybackwoods my hat is off to you!

Big timber bucks are the new 20-point draw tags!

and great job pulling this story together Jaden, and for letting the guest do the talking lol! (you know what I mean)

and for you guys with IG, Aquila has the trail camera vids in his story of the buck. Holy smoly what a beautiful buck on the hoof. He moves like a stud!

Awesome listen and great story. Very interesting to hear about someone using a grunt call while still hunting. I’ve often wondered about the effectiveness of that tactic. I have never heard much for mule deer vocalization until this year when I snuck into the middle of a group of does being harassed by a small 3 point. The amount of grunting and bleating was really shocking to me. I think my grunt call is going to be in my pack next time I plan on still hunting, especially in or around the rut.
