I'm looking at buying a tepee which one would you pick and why? The tepee would be used in Wyoming in the high country.

I do not have kifaru tipi cus the price make me wanna cry but i have a lot of lid, pouches from them and its just strong and awesome gear.I own 2 tipi from seek outside,bt2 and the 4 man tipi, nice tipi, really well made, just perfect for my needs, hunting and fishing+camping in Quebec,Canada,i got into -30C with the tipis and my stove with no problems.take a look on seek outside forum for more info and pictures/videos.I wish i have the chance one day to see a kifaru tipi to talk about it,all i know is SO and i enjoy their shelters.

I really Like my SO 6 man. I like the sod cloth and the tie outs. I really do not know about Kifaru shelters.
Seek Outside does make a great product.

I have done quite a bit of research on this and after talking to a few people have decided to go with the seek outside. They are both extremely well built.

I am also trying to decided between the two on a 8 man. Both look like great options. Seek outside also offers theirs in two weight fabrics which is further confusing things for me. I would use mine for a base camp option and family car camping trips. I already have my light weight back country set ups taken care of.

I would be using as my backcountry base. Usually with a partner. But still trying to decide on a lightweight system to carry with me while hunting if I want to stay on the animals. I am between backcountry shelter and sawtooth.

I like the idea of the double doors and the storm flap over the zipper on the seek outside tepees but I have owned a Kiifaru shelter before and it was built good just expensive.

I have a Kifaru 4 man and a SO 8 man. Can't go wrong with either but the SO has a big advantage in price.

I am in the same boat, big decision, SO can do tipi, nest and stove for what you can get a Kifaru Tipi. I have started my lean towards a SO BCS 2, just now trying to figure out medium or large SO stove.

Beastmode. What system are you going with? Which ones have you considered? I am trying to decide myself.
I was looking hard at the kifaru and So 8 man. I am going with the SO 8 man with a large or medium kifaru box stove. After talking with both Kevin from SO and Aron I have made up my mind on the SO for a shelter and kifaru stove.

The price point is one thing to consider at $300 cheaper the SO wins this catagory in my mind.

The side tie outs are a nice luxury to be able to do a 6 man pitch if space is limited but it will leave you with a ton of extra fabric. Both companies offer side tie outs.

The roof vent on the SO seems like a good idea for airflow and preventing some condensation. The flap over the zipper is also a good idea that comes with the SO. I hunt in some nasty wet weather. The SO also has the ability to use their half nest which would probably work with the kifaru as well so that's basically a wash. I know a lot of guys might question using a nest on a floor less shelter but the ability to use one if needed especially comforts my wife's mind.

The sod skirt on the SO doesn't seem like a necessity and in fact might cause condensation issues.

The downside to SO is they don't have the customer base that kifaru has. Kifaru has proven themselves with many years of great customer service and products. Every piece of gear I have from kifaru is built with incredible quality.

I don't think you can go wrong with either shelter. Everyone I have talked to with a SO shelter loves them. Same goes for kifaru.

So an 8 man. Is it just you? I thought about the 6 man and taking it down to the 4 man when I'm alone. I am just worried about the diameter and finding a place to set it up in the woods.

Failed to mention this is going to be my family setup and my setup for 2-3 people hunting. If it was just me and maybe one more the sawtooth would be my choice.

Just to chime in a bit and give some warning. There will be a noticeable but not extreme price increase on several of the SO tents in the next few weeks. It is unavoidable , as it is due to a material price increase. In the past, we have eaten small increases without passing them on and just found ways to be more efficient. We do like to pay our seamstresses what we consider a good wage, so that option is off the table for us, it's just part of what we believe in.

On a side note, we do have some other new products coming available soon. In my opinion a greatly improved lid for the packs, as well as a few other improvements that have been worked in already.

One more thing, the SO comes standard with duel bug net doors. I think their customer base is growing pretty good also.:)
