Here we go again on this topic. I've been a lifelong supporter of Kifaru, buying my first Longhunter in 01. Best decision I've ever made as far as getting into the best of the best as a mountain hunter. Over the years I've owned several more of their packs. Currently have 5 complete set ups for different uses. Now, back to the point......recently, I've researched the Sherman pocket and absolutely need one as it seems to be the answer to a few of my needs, so I put one in the cart and headed to check out. $85 and shipping ......... this is where the problem arises again. The cheapest shipping option is $25+. This is flat out pathetic for merely a half pound foldable item. I realize this has been an issue in the past, but thought they moved on and had their shipping costs where they needed to be these days? The last thing I want to do is badmouth these guys as I've been a huge supporter over the years and put many of guys in their packs, but for the love of God, get this issue fixed!

I think I remember someone in another thread say to call in for small items like that and they can get the shipping down to normal.

I’ll have to try that today since I was I. The same boat as MtnMuley a couple days ago and was thinking that shipping was really high for a small item like that.

USPS will ship one from Miami FL to the farthest nether region of Alaska using sled dogs for the last hundred miles for $7.50. The shipping stuff does irk me a bit with Kifaru and KDC. Oh and it'll be there in 2-3 days.

That’s strange, I paid $5 to ship miscellaneous buckles and webbing keepers. Honestly I expected it to be higher with an included handling fee since someone had to pick twenty little items instead of one small bag. Don’t know if distance matters but I live one town away, maybe usps didn’t up charge since the package didn’t go through the main Denver facility?

I ordered a few items recently and I’m prerty sure the standard shipment was only 6 or 7 bucks, best I can recall.

As stated earlier Kifaru had problems with shipping costs in the past. I just put a Sherman Pocket in my cart to see if the shipping cost would be the same as you had. Shipping was $25.36. I would call Kifaru and order that way. There automated calculator must be a bit off.

I ordered a Sherman, the last release of the knife they had about a month ago, a 5 string stuff sack and some ultra lit bags ...shipping was 25 and change for the order ...maybe 2 pounds total in a small box ..to NY

Please let us know what you find out. I also wanted to order a Sherman pocket a few months ago. When I saw the shipping cost I emailed them. Dana emailed me back saying shipping is calculated based on weight and that 25.36 was correct. I just figured I'd wait until I had more stuff to order.

Well, that was a waste of my time. That's a charged based on weight and an "oversized" item. No way to adjust the shipping cost. He said that included a handling fee too. I was the first person he'd said he'd heard any complaint from. What a f*#@ing joke. Great way to treat customers and especially those who have spent thousands of dollars on their packs over the years. It's kind of hard to feel bad now to have somebody build me homebrew Sherman at a cheaper cost.

That is unfortunate. I think the shipping on my ultralight frame, and Eastern ruck was $28. A Sherman could easily fit in a flat rate envelope

That seems messed up. I don’t remember shipping even being that high on some pack orders.

When that stuff goes on I call or message Aron and it gets resolved. Whoever answered the phone today wasn’t thinking. No way that costs that much, I ship a ton of stuff and that could go in a flat rate box a lot cheaper.

Yeah...I put a Sherman pocket and a medium belt pouch on my Christmas list. My wife got me both. No wonder she was fussing about my expensive hobbies, she paid over $25 just for shipping. I guarantee you that UPS didn't charge them more than $10. I know because we ship UPS at work all the time, and we get a "negotiated rate" because we're a business. Now I wish I didn't have either and would have just spent my money on Stone Glacier. Also, i get the "handling fee" but how does it cost someone $15 bucks to get 2 small items and pack them in a box? That's some good hourly wages if that's the case.

Sad or petty or trivial as it may seem I’ve backed off ordering a number of things because each time I see a crazy $25+ shipping fee on stuff that would fit usps flat rates. Shipping charges are not something to be losing business over. Hell build it in the price and do shipping free* like almost everyone else and this wouldn’t be an issue at all.

I'm guessing that a $100 Sherman pocket (rather than $85) and $10 shipping (rather than $25) would have kept everyone happy.
