Its a great bag and in my opinion is the most versitile. You can add as many straps as you like from any direction to strap down meat. the options are endless. I had the Nomad 1 and moved to the Nomad 2 when it came out. Both are great. Fatrascal.
I wish I took a pic (I'll see if I can get one from my friend), but I just got my first opportunity to help haul an elk out with it yesterday. I have the nomad 2 and a native. I used the native kind of like a meat shelf and cinched tight with the nomad. I was hauling a hind quarter and gun (in the native). There was no movement at all. Best elk packout experience I've had.
Anyway, it is pretty versatile as far as how you can set it up.
It’s not the greatest picture of the meat, but that’s two bone in front shoulders from a 6 point bull this past September. I ran a grab it and three compression straps on my nomad 2, and I don’t see how any pack could have hauled that meat better.
It’s an awesome day pack and very versalite but it gets pretty strappy for my tastes. I traded my nomad for a mountain warrior, and I think I’ll probably stay with that for a while. It cinches down super small for day mode, but will blow up the size of a Volkswagen for hauling out meat/camp.
I love the versatility of this bag. I had Pods8 (a Rokslide sponsor) sew me a camp bag. It was very reasonably priced. So now, the Nomad is basically the same as the Fulcrum, but I can just remove my camp bag and have an awesome day pack. It’s simple and fast.
I agree with the previous posts; the Nomad 2 is an extremely versatile system. It can also be a little overwhelming because of that versatility. There are so many ways you can set it up it may seem a little too complicated for some folks. It is definitely worth a try. If you don't care for it, you can sell it on this forum and try something else!
