Kifaru Mtn Warrior

So is anyone using this particular bag? Specifically with the guide lid? If so what are your thoughts on it. Good and bad. Thanks.

Agreed. I think it's a great setup. Having the panel pocket, as well as being able to get into the main compartment and the lid without undoing anything is really nice. I was trying to convince myself to fall for the new mid sized pack to lose another pound but the organization and convenience of the Mtn Warrior is tough to move away from.

I run one, and it works very well. It is a good size, with the guide lid you add even more space. It gives you excellent access to the pack through the panel, so you don't have to dump the whole pack to get something you need. It shrinks up small for day use, and then opens up to haul quarters. If you were needing more space you can add pockets to the outside very easily.

This pack is about as perfect for me as can be. The front pouch and guide lid work great in daypack mode with the rest of the bag cinched down. Open it up after the kill and you have 5000 cubes to stuff the meat in. Access is perfect, it's light and functional....Perfect for me. (And I've tested a few, believe me)

I ran this pack this year as well. Really like the size and compressibility. I played with several additional pockets but pretty much prefer the pack and guide lid with out the additional pockets.

I love the size, panel load, and giant back pocket but never really liked the way any of the pockets rode on the sides. I prefer the attached long pockets of the DT2.

I have still can't make up my mind between the mountain warriors and AMR. I've owned both and now own neither. The AMR is better for day mode I believe. I wonder if the mountain warrior would be better off with 3 compression straps and no over the top strap.

I really like the pack, and am a huge panel loader fan, but when the pack starts to get full it really cuts down on the useful space in that front pouch, especially if you have hard goods in the mesh zipper area on the other side of the panel. For me when I have my kit in the pack the back pocket becomes nothing more then a place to stuff my puffy, and for me that's perfect, but I couldn't possibly fit my spotter in there. I had my kit for 5 days, 2 days left of food, plus a pretty small blacktail buck and it had room but it was pretty damn full. My kit is not the smallest out there but it's not huge either.

I really want kifaru to develop a bag the size of the AMR, with a panel loader aspect, and also instead of the big pocket, continue the pals webbing that occurs on the sides all the way around. Then I could decide exactly what I want there, belt pouches, side pockets, new spotter pocket or nothing. And it would make the entire bag usable without sacrificing space in the pockets.

With all that said its the best bag I have personally used. I really really love the panel load and if kifaru doesn't come out with a bigger bag with that option I'll stick with this and figure a way to add volume to it.

Just picked up one of these several weeks ago with a new lightweight duplex frame. The last couple of years I have worked through some different packs and really like my ku5200. The size just works for me, especially for day hunting during rifle season in MT when you need more clothing. I have packed several deer so far with the Mntn Warrior and really like the pack setup. I did buy a guide lid for longer trips, but have been running a plain lid with no storage. It has worked well for day hunting. I am still tweaking adjustments, but so far it is my favorite setup. I can carry my day hunting gear and haul an entire deer, quartered with bone in, and still have some extra room. I would not be afraid to do 5-7 day trips with this pack and the guide lid. This is my first experience with a duplex frame and I will say it is still not as nice for packing as a rigid frame like my Bull-pac, but is the best hunting backpack setup I have used. Kifaru makes awesome gear.

I just bought the mtn warrior with the guide lid and duplex frame before our 2015 Colorado hunt. Excellent set up: added side pockets and belt pockets. Worked well for day pack as well as stuffing it full for longer trips. You can't beat their customer service. I bought a competitors brand first, didn't hold up; bad mistake on me. But it put me in a big bind since I needed a replacement in only a few days. Called the boys at Kifaru, told them about my urgent need for a pack system, and man did they deliver. Should have bought kifaru first. You won't go wrong with the warrior and guide lid. Kifaru loyal for life from this happy camper. Let's just say that their competitor customer service really lacked service, even when I had an urgent situation.

I really like the mountain warrior. I really like the pockets. I've packed out 8 or so bucks with it so far, and have been day hunting with it in SE AK. I am having trouble getting it adjusted correctly. I'm using the same old duplex frame as I used with my longhunter bag. Having a tough time getting the weight off my shoulders, and the compression straps don't seem to match up well with the attachments I have on my old duplex. Hopefully I get it sorted out before I get 100+lbs in it.

If I remember correctly the side compression straps on the mountain warrior didn't really line up on the new 2015 24" duplex either when I had it. They Functioned fine though.
