So I just got my 26" duplex. Man it sticks up higher than I was thinking. My back from the pointed vertebrae in my neck to the top of my hips is about 18". I talked with Frank at kifaru and he said 18" is pretty standard for my height, meaning it is pretty optimal for hauling heavy loads. I am afraid it will get in the way while hunting the thick stuff. I could exchange it for the medium and bring it down 2" and the load lifters should still be above my shoulders. Wont be as steep of an angle as the large frame and wont be as comfy while hauling over 80lbs but will be easier to hunt with. Anyone find the 26"frame is to tall or get in the way while bow hunting.
Thanks,
Doug

I'm 5'11" and only rarely have I felt the frame was to tall. Yeah, it catches once in a while but all my packs have, just have to go by how often you are in those situations.

My torso is around 19'' and I use a 26''. I didn't find it to high when chasing elk this season, but I could never hunt with it here in the NE. I was wearing it while tracking a deer a few weeks ago and it was very frustrating. I'd get a 24'' and see how much lift you have with it and go from there. Like goat said you'll have to weight the pros and cons based on where you hunt the most.

I would move the lifters to 24" and load some weight in the bag and see what angle you have on the lifter straps. If you still have a good angle at 24" then you might consider sizing down. If your lifters end up being pretty flat at 24" I'd stick with the 26".

I'm one of the few, but I prefer the 24" frame after trying both. I am right at 6'0", but I've hauled loads well over 100# with mine. I wear it most weekends throughout the year. I might suffer a little more on the real heavy loads, but you are already suffering on those anyway. You will probably take a hit if you ever decide to sell it though.
