Some good ideas there.

I find myself going backwards and forwards on the design of a bag I want to sew up, kind of a hybrid Mountain Warrior /Nomad, and all the mods and DIY ideas can either help crystalise, or potentially hijack my original ideas, but its all good input and will hopefully help to put together a kick ass pack bag eventually.

Great looking mod! I wish I had the skills to do mods like that. I also struggled with the straps with my Nomad before I had enough and sold it. One of the ideas I had was similar to what you did, but instead of a zipper just add 3-4 tab loops to each wing in place of the zipper. You could then add a similar strap setup as you did (but without the zipper), and you could also connect the wings using only double slotted K-klips, which would hold the wings together without straps.

I tried this. I sewed 1 loop on 1 wing by hand and it was too much trouble. If you could get a sewing machine to do the work; which I don't see how it would fit without cutting apart the bag, then it would be a go for sure.
