Kifaru duffle bags

Anybody have experience with Kifaru duffle bags for transporting gear as checked luggage? Are they up to the task?

The airlines have destroyed my high dollar filson roller duffle bag on my last two international trips. it's held together with duct tape. thinking maybe I should just go with regular duffle bags, but they are a pain to deal with at airports and you become dependent on luggage carts which I don't like. But much cheaper to replace more often as luggage doesn't seem to be airline proof anymore.

Looking for something in the 36" to 40" range or expedition size if anybody has other recommendations. Budget is not a concern

Can't speak for the kifaru duffels, but I have a few of The North Face Basecamp duffels and they are solid. One of mine has been through baggage claim at least 60 times and other than your typical black scuffs/marks, its still in great shape. Highly recommend them and they come in several sizes, so I'm sure you can find one to fit your needs.

Goruck duffels maybe another one to look at. I dont have any personal experience with them but I have the gr1 and it's built boom proof

My two kifaru duffle a one large and one XL are holding up well so far and they usually go for a plane ride at least once a week.

Yep. I was a Filson guy before they sold out and I have put their stuff through Hell and back. They've always gone beyond just repair/replace and have totally blown my mind with their service. I have a pair of their pants that I worked timber in. I had a stack of wedges in the butt pocket and I bent over and blew out the whole hip. It could've been repaired, but I took them into the store and they didn't even look at them...they said to just go get a new pair off the shelf. Have a foul weather fishing vest that I snagged on a tree and tore. Sent it back after like 15 years of ownership and they repaired it, no cost.

As for duffels, I use the Mountain Hardwear expdedition duffels. They're not waterproof, but are the rubberized canvas. They're pretty beefy and I've been impressed.

I have a XL duffel and I love it. I am taking it as my bag on my moose hunt in BC this September. Going to put my back up bow wrapped in bubble wrap in a bow box in the bottom and put clothes and all my other gear around it.

My Kifaru duffles have been drug all over the world with me. They still look almost new aside from the dirt/grime. As with anything Kifaru...a GREAT product.
