I recently received my Kifaru Hunting Duplex & EMRII. I'm looking for the ideal pouches to mount on my duplex belt. What are everyone's favorites? I don't think I'll like/need the tall & narrow pouches like the Kifaru mini or gps pouches. I believe the regular Kifaru small/med/large belt pouches will work best for me. I plan on storing a headlamp, extra ammo/black powder loads, batteries, AA batteries, elk calls, wind powder, GPS, etc. What are the favorite sizes for current Kifaru belt pouch users?

If using it on the belt I definitely prefer a small, if on the pack a medium. You will be surprised at how big the small is.

I used to run 2 smalls on the belt and 2 mediums on the lower sides of the emrII bag. Never really needed the 2 mediums and eventually pulled them off. Tried a small and medium on the belt but the medium seemed way big for anything I wanted to hang off my belt. Currently.... I run a small on my right side belt and a mini & Nalgene bottle pocket on the left. Couldn't be happier with that set up.

Well i do really like the mini paired on my right side with a nalgene bottle holder. And then I have a medium on the left side. Small works fine while actually hunting for what I carry but the medium holds all the stuff at the end of the day that I am wearing like my arm guard and tab and elk calls that are strung around my neck during the day. If you use quick loads for your BP they would stay vertical in the mini pouch. I keep either a monocular or a range finder etc in mine. The nalgene bottle was something me and the wife tried this year for the first time versus primarily hydrating from a camel back, it was a vast improvement. Still had the camel back along to refill it, but we stayed way better hydrated. The large belt pouches are just way way too big in my opinion to have on the hip belt. If I wasn't going to use the nalgene bottle holder, I might go with two of the mini belt pouches on the right side versus a medium or small.

Old goat, I don't use the Nalgene bottles or see myself using the quick loads as I don't anticipate having a muzzleloader tag again. I do use a 3 liter Camelbak/hydration bladder instead. Why did you prefer the Nalgene bottle to the Camelbak? Thanks for your input.

The nalgene you can get a real drink from and hydrate quickly, camel back you sit there and suck on it and end up out of breath even worse if you were out of breath when you were getting a drink to start with, it's also easier to monitor water usage. I wouldn't of ever guessed it and tried it if I didn't see all the back packing gurus that live around here using them. Also it works a lot easier if you add supplements to your water like the Mountain Ops Enduro drink mix or similar. Also the nalgene screws right into the bottom of my Katadyn Hiker Pro water purifier! Next to getting Kifaru packs, me and the wife both thought it was the biggest technique improvement we made to our hunting gear this year!

Oldgoat, that's very interesting that a Nalgene fits into a HiKer Pro. I run a Hiker Pro and that may prove beneficial.

Yeah, you just pull that rubber plug out of the bottom and it screws in. Warm days with a lot of hiking, one nalgene bottle wasn't enough water, I just kept half a camel back of water in my pack to refill me and the wife's wife's nalgene bottle. I figured that was more convenient than filtering water on the go personally!

I have a large on my left side and a small and my rifle holder on the right side of my waistbelt.

I run a small belt on the left and a pistol on the right in a bianchi universal military holster. Another thing to keep in mind is the weight, a large pouch on my waist belt could easily weigh more than a holstered side arm which is a nag to me. For those that prefer spray may want to save room for that as well.
