Just a note to all the Kifaru fan boys. I consider myself one as well. Truth and accuracy in advertising is simple, it either is truthful, or it isnt. Weight may not matter to some. But in a world where we buy most of our equipment online, without seeing or touching, truth and accuracy in specs matters.

I dont understand the justification to defend a mistake, as acceptable, just because that spec isn't important to you. Or in your own calculus the benefits still outweight the negatives.

Would it still be cool if the volume was 25% smaller, how bout the material was pure spandex, instead of 500d.

I have to import my gear before I touch it, a return is not realistic and way too costly for me.

I am confident that Kifaru and Aron will make it right, so I'm stoked on that. They will continue to have me as a customer.

Maybe it's just me but I've never looked at Kifaru for an ultralight setup. I've looked at and used them because they make packs that are pretty durable and for me at least a lot more comfortable hauling weight than others I've tried. There are plenty of ultra light options out there.

Expecting a company to post accurate information isn't "poor me." Just because my frame was over weight, that means I should EXPECT my bag to be overweight? Nobody said "duped", but it is literally bait and switch. I decided to keep my frame because the design and comfort were superb. Maybe I do the same with the bag. But it certainly doesn't hurt to point out that the specs are off for guys who may have largely made a purchase decision based on weight. What's wrong with being informed?

Perhaps you could go sew up a few hundred of them and see how many you hit the exact spec on. Have you weighed everything you carry to see if it's the advertised weight? I bet you'd be pissed if you did because most everything would be off a little bit, maybe a lot. So far it seems like you've complained about everything you've gotten from Kifaru. I see no need to complain about a bag you haven't even freaking received yet. Why get wound up til you get it in hand?

Nahhhhh, just pointing out he's getting himself wound up tight over something he hasn't even laid hands on. What if they list the weight and it comes in under that spec? Will he post a full retraction? Eh, probably not. It's entertaining to read how guys complain about a few oz more on their pack, then put 10lbs of crap in their bino harness and don't count that.

While I agree that getting specs correct is very important, I'd gladly put money on the fact that none of the people complaining about the weight can perceive an 8oz difference in a loaded pack of 55lbs while on their back.

44 mag looks awesome. I think it will definitely be my next bag. The customer service I recently received from Kifaru about attaching their grab it to another company’s bag was nothing less than stellar. The other company couldn’t even answer questions about their own version of the grab it. Made my mind up right then that my next pack will be a Kifaru without a doubt. If 8oz makes you or breaks you, you didn’t train hard enough. . .

I’m a Kifaru fan boy to the nth degree, but if everything I took in the woods was 10.5 oz over spec I wouldn’t be able to lift my pack off the ground.

Interesting that everyone knows exactly how many Kifaru products I own. I didn't say it was heavier than they claimed. This has nothing to do with me having "not even touched it yet." Or all of the posts I have saying how bomber and comfortable my Timberline 1 and Duplex Lite have been. I said they upped the weight once from the first video to the sales page, and then upped it again days later AFTER people had purchased. I thought that was disappointing. And yes, I weigh every piece of gear that I carry on long hunts. And yes, I know exactly how many pieces of my gear are over, on, and under claimed specs. A few are under, many are on, and many are over. Not a single thing I own ends up being 23% heavier than claimed. Not one.

So, if you don't care how heavy anything you carry is, great. Good for you. But don't criticize me for simply mentioning a fact, that they upped the weight AFTER it went on sale, that might be pertinent to others, which has been the case. Just because a company has put out great products and generally has good CS, doesn't mean they're immune to mistakes. And it doesn't make me wrong for mentioning one.

Sorry for the delay on this guys, but I had to get caught back up at the office.

I apologize for the confusion on the weight of the 44 mag! The issue came from my people weighing my prototype instead of the final version. My prototype had a lot of things missing on it that I don’t need and did not have my sewer them on while building my pack. The weight of my personal 44mag is 2lb 10oz, But it is missing the meat shelf, water bladder pocket and a few other minor things. I don’t use these and so I didn’t have the first prototype bags sewn together with them. This wasn’t intentional, but I can totally understand if people would want a refund and we have no problem doing that.

I will be the first to admit that I worry more about function and comfort than I do about the actual weight of what’s in my pack and this is something that I need to get better at. This is by no means an excuse, but more of me admitting my deficiencies at weighing gear. If a piece of gear works for me the weight of it is inconsequential, but not everyone works that way and I should have been more diligent on the final weight of the 44mag. The MSR reactor is a prime example of this; This stove is extremely heavy, but it functions perfectly and has never let me down, so the chances of me using a system that is much lighter are not very good sense it does so well for me. As I say that, I also cut everything off a backpack that I do not use as well as any other gear in my pack.

Thanks for the clarification, Aron. Cool design, either way. I've never seen a new bag that I thought could tempt me away from my T1, but the organization and access on the 44 Mag did just that.
