I got my 44Mag a week or two ago. Wow what a bag. The search is finally over. Its everything I want in a bag.

I've got a Mountain Warrior, Reckoning, and Tahr. Might was well sell them all.
Why do you prefer the 44 over the Reckoning? How long of hunts do you typically do?

ctsmith - I sold a Woodsman and Mountain Warrior before i bought the 44 - wasn't sure about my decision at first, but i can tell you it was the right decision for me - really happy with this bag.

My bag turned up today I've slipped it onto it's new frame. Super happy with the bag and a nice departure from my old Highcamp bag.

Now this may have been asked before but whats the purpose of the long tan web strap running under the load lifters in my pic?

TIA

Mine is completely different. I’m confused now. I also had trouble with those black clips/rings/connectors coming off when shouldering the bag with weight.

Jrein - Mine is set up just like yours - is the K Clip coming off when you shoulder it? I haven't had any issues with them. Make sure they are fully engaged - meaning all the material is inside the clip.

Mine finally came yesterday (ordered 6/17). I can't wait to give it a try next week. I'm going to start with a claymore and a Sherman on it and see what I think of that.

Just loaded all my crap except food for a 3 day trip . I cant fill the 44 , I’m going to have to tighten the bottom compression strap to close the bottom portion of the bag so the load will ride higher. 24lbs is what the scale read

Can someone set there 44 mag up with something in the load sling? I'd like to see some pics to make sure I do it correctly. Thanks.
Well, here is how I did it. Not sure if I did it right, but I think it'll work. I've packed out lots of stuff with the old Duplex Hunter and a bag without a load sling. I might cut the sling off the 44 mag, I dont think its needed. The straps at the bottom can just be tightened.

I really don’t (didn’t) care for the way the outter side straps were sewn into the bag...took care of those with the knife immediately and love the bag now...

How are the side pockets? Any organization pockets/mesh inside them. Can they be used for trekking poles, etc..

Also, Anybody pack a tree stand with the pack?
Thanks

I haven't used a tree stand.
The side pockets won't fit my trekking poles, they're just a little too tall and stick out the top. Mine are the cheap-o ones from Costco though, so a better set that collapses smaller may fit. There aren't any extra organization options built into the side pockets, but they are a god size so you could easily load a bunch of stuff separated into pullouts inside them if you wanted.

My Leki trekking poles don't fit either. But the way the pocket is designed it's pretty easy to zip up with things sticking out the top. They do hold a Sven saw and typical tent poles, however.

I kind of like the side straps sewn in it allows me to pack and unpack in sections , might be the only benefit. I had to add an extra compression strap to hold the top of my bow were as if it wasn’t sewn into the bag i wouldn’t have had to.

Just a couple of pictures with various set ups:

As far as pouches, I've generally settled on the Sherman on Top and a Claymore on the bottom. Under the Sherman I have a medium belt pouch and a HPG GP medium. I have a second Claymore that I can run as a lid if I need it. It's an incredibly versatile pack. I particularly appreciate that the Sherman can attach higher so a rifle rides closer to center of gravity than down low.
