Anyone have experience with any of the Kestrel Weather Meters? Three versions on Gohunt and wondering what the main differences/advantages are of each. Will be using strictly for hunting.
The three are: 2700, 5700 and 5700 Elite.

If you plan to shoot past transonic ranges, get the elite so you can utilize the DSF. Otherwise, the 5700 is great and will probably be all that you need! Make sure that you get the link though because it makes the whole system a little more user-friendly!

Thanks. Is the 2700 not worth messing with? I don’t plan on shooting past 600-700yds and mainly want to know wind and atmospheric conditions for that range.

I have a 5700 and should have bought an elite.

Panhandle precision on YouTube has a pretty good video explaining the difference between the 5700 and elite.

I wouldn’t consider the 2700.

If you just want the best of environmental factors get the 5000. I am just starting to learn about the one I got.

Yes! The non link 5700 Elite is not fully supported by AB on their custom drag models. They refuse to put the CDM for the bullet I run into the uploader library for the non link models. Really pissed me off, thought I was saving a few dollars. Nope

If you just want to collect basic environmentals, save some money and get a 3500. They work fine.

Although you didn’t mention the Kestrel 5700 with Hornady’s 4DOF, it’s worth taking a look at.

I have a 5700 Elite with AB and a 5700 with 4DOF. I choose which model I use based on which one has a custom drag model (CDM) for the bullet I’ll be shooting.

If both models have a CDM for the bullet I’m shooting, I’ll choose the 4DOF.

From my experience, the 4DOF requires less correction, when truing at distance.

For example, I recently trued a 300 PRC shooting 225 ELDM, using both AB and 4DOF. The 4DOF required no correction and the AB required a 1.8% tweak to muzzle velocity.
