kenetrek mountain guides

I like mine. I used the Mountain Extreme at sportsman’s warehouse to test the size I ordered for the mountain Guides. I broke them in at work (50 miles) on concrete and steel. Then I used them a few times to hike the butte (3ish mile round trip with 850ftish elevation gain mix of stairs and gravel). Also used them for archery moose in the swamp while wearing gaiters and stayed dry even though I went to mid thigh while getting my fourwheeler unstuck. Lastly I used it them for my September moose hunt and wore them packing out 3 moose. First moose was side hilling 700ish yards to the side by side one way, 3 trips. Second and third moose was uphill but a very short distance, less than 50yds, as we could get machines close enough.

I had no issues with fit, sore feet, waterproofing issues or support. The mountain guides have very good traction in mud with a clay base, work great in wet creek rocks, lugs clean out well and they feel good when walking uphill In slate, muskegs, grass, moss and willows.

I’ve spent a lot time and money in boots and put a lot of miles on them. The Mountain Guides are the best I’ve owned. If I could get them in black I would get them for work. I’m using the standard insole they came with. I put the kennetrek brand wax on my boots before the archery hunt, cleaned with saddle soap, reapplied before the moose hunt, and repeated the process when I got done with the moose hunt. I would guess the total mileage is 75-80 miles on the boots. With the wax on they always look wet but I love these things 128449
Last thing, mine are the uninsulated version and they can be a smidge cheaper on Amazon.
