Don't forget an apron and oven mitts. Then next year you can get her a mop bucket, dustpan, or extension cord……
This right here is the answer. It can be tough as a young family just getting started when one partner is gone. The kids are a lot to juggle on your own as well as the many other things that need to be done. It should be a priority that when you are home you're engaged, helpful, loving, attentive, etc. If you're a good, present husband 50 weeks out of the year, being gone the other 2 weeks isn't too big of a deal. Most people worry about while your gone but it’s when your home that’s more important. When your home, be home. Be present and be helpful.
My wife is really good about letting me go do things. I have had people ask me how I am so “lucky?” I don’t go to the bar. I don’t play Xbox. I cook supper many nights. I do a lot of dishes. I take care of the yard. I take care of the vehicles. Either Saturday or Sunday, I make her breakfast. I even go grocery shopping with my wife a fair amount. I do things for and with her. That’s how I am so “lucky.”
Good thinking! I was focusing on the short term, 3 year plan. The apron and oven mitts are for the long term, 5 year plan!Don't forget an apron and oven mitts.
Will be leaving my wife with a 6 month old this year. I looked at the little one and told her that it would be a big help if she could learn to go to the bathroom on the toilet by then. She just blew bubbles and screeched at me. I took that as she wasn’t going to make that happen. She’s a work in progress.Encourage the kids to take some responsibility too. The way it worked out this year our aeration guy was coming during my hunt, so my boy got the lawn watered before and seeded after. Little dude is very proud to see his little grass sprouts poking up. So I see times when Mom or Dad is gone as opportunities for the kids to take one more, learn more, do more.
Lastly, I'm going to buy my wife a purse.
Some wives are so emotionally dependent on having someone around they need a babysitter. Many mother in laws come in handy for that. Hey, I wouldn’t marry that kind of woman, but a crazy one comes along with golden mommy parts and our boys are all over it. Leave for a week and she’s ready to burn the house down just to get rid of your funky smell. lol
My buddy's wife ruined his NM Gila hunt this year. Basically he hunted for 3 days and she threw a fit and broke stuff at home and he had to pull stakes and leave his once in a lifetime hunt.
Yeah I'm choosing divorce if that happens, clearly not a good match. My buddy's wife ruined his NM Gila hunt this year. Basically he hunted for 3 days and she threw a fit and broke stuff at home and he had to pull stakes and leave his once in a lifetime hunt.
Was that the first time he left her for an extended hunt? The wife moved in with me when we were dating 2 weeks later I left for 10 days. In my mind I figured might as well rip that bandaid off right away and see how it goes.
