Karl Kampfeld

Sent him my bolt for my ML about a month ago for fluting and a new knob. Got it back in a week from when I sent it!

He built a 22/250, and a 7stw for me.

Both tack driver.

The STW shoots 160 partition into one ragged hole

Excited to get my 3rd customization work back from Karl this week, I sent him an old Savage with sentimental value and told him to use his imagination on fluting. Its on the way back to me now, should have it Friday. Still don't know what it's going to look like ha.

Got it back from him today. About 15 years ago I bought my first rifle while I was in college, a Savage Stevens 200 in 270 for like $180 on super sale at Academy in Auburn. Killed a ton of animals with it, then started incessantly upgrading and buying and selling rifles, but I always kept this one because it was the first but it never got any use the last ten years or so. Had the stock dipped for $100 and then let Karl do some cosmetic work for $280ish and bam. She’s lovable again! Ha also dropped a little over 6oz in weight.

Looks great but how durable is the dip?

I'm usually not a fan of spiral fluting but that thing looks awesome! Karl is an awesome dude, he did an outstanding job building my first custom and I'll be a lifelong customer.

Had the same outfit do AR parts before I built it and it held up great hunting a few trips this past fall. Actually took it hog hunting a couple weeks ago. They say they put a clear on it after the dip. We’ll see. The original stock is a tan color, so it’ll take a lot to be able to notice wear.

Great smith and a great patriotic conservative American.
I used to live 30 minutes from his shop in Sandpoint, I'd always enjoy dropping my projects off and engaging in good conversation.
Going to Karl's, if it's in the winter and they've recently been dumped on, can be an experience all on its own. I took some actions and a couple bolts to him a few years ago after it had recently snowed a pretty fair amount. Once off the pavement it was a 4x4 trip the whole way up in to his place.
