Kansas Has Drawn Today

Drew last year. Put in with a group this year and nothing yet. I imagine that means we didn't draw and I need to start researching a few other deer states.
 
Just got charged for my daughter (11) and notification that my son (8) didn’t draw. Now on to the fun of trying to find access for a non resident. Any advice would be appreciated for northwest Kansas.

Did not draw this year. Did not draw last year as well, but was called back in July and offered a tag? Someone couldn’t go due to health reasons? I deferred the tag as already making other plans.
I was thinking I had a preference point from last year not drawing? Need to look at my profile? I guess I would have 2 preference points going into next season?

That’s the first I’ve ever heard of Kansas reissuing a permit. They give out ~22,000 NR deer tags. Find it hard to believe they’d want to mess with all the folks who waffle with their decision to go. Nothing about reissues is mentioned on their site anywhere. Weird.



If you didn’t draw with a point there’s a few possible scenarios. You didn’t have a valid hunting license and got booted from the system, something went wrong with your card/transaction, and/or you didn’t have as many points as you thought. Lots of folks apply as a group and find out after the fact one of their buddies thought he had a point, but didn’t. Any group app with a zero point member is relegated to the zero pool. Every unit in the state had at least 1/3 and some up to 2/3 of the tags go to zero point applicants last year. Still highly unlikely any unit filled up with 1pt+ apps this year. May happen soon in a unit or two, but not for most.

I had to go back and look at my voicemails. They called me at July 10th of last year. Asked if I was still interested in a tag because my name came back up, when someone had returned their tag. I saved the voicemail to let my friend listen to it. When I called back, I asked the guy about it. He said that for health/medical reasons, they would let you turn your tag back in? I deferred the tag, assuming I would have the point I had from not drawing. Also assuming I would draw this year with 1 point
When I got the unsuccessful email. It had 1 point balance. I could not find my points on my profile? I drew my first 3 years, first year having 1 point. The next 2 years having 0 points. So I’m assuming I have 2 points now, from not being successful this last 2 years?

Under the Menu tab in your account one of the first options should be My Preference Points. I believe those have already been updated for this cycle. There is also a License History tab that you can reference past tags/licenses to see if anything was amiss. That also shows preference point purchases. If your account shows you indeed have two points and did not draw I’m guessing something went wrong with your credit card transaction. You could call them on Tuesday and see if someone can get to the bottom of it.
 
I found the pull down menu. Thank you. I had 1 point for this draw, but didn’t draw. So now I should have 2 points going into next year. When I pulled my profile, it is only showing 1 point? My card hasn’t been charged either? I’ll check in a week or 2 to see if point has been added.
Maybe if I get lucky. I’ll get another call this summer. I would definitely take it this year.
