Hey guys. Long time lurker of the page but first time posting anything. My daughter and I applied for Kansas deer tags this year and hoping to get drawn with 1pp each. We're from Virginia and I've done numerous DIY hunts throughout the west for elk and mule deer but never hunted Kansas. My daughter will be 9yrs old this fall, is pretty experienced for her age and has taken several whitetails with her rifle here in Virginia. This will be her first out of state hunt and we're planning to hunt mostly public walk in areas. Would in the NE / NC part of the state depending on which units we draw. I'm just looking for any advice from guys who may have done this hunt before and any tips you all would be willing to share from your experiences. I imagine the hunting out there will be quite a bit different than what we're used to here. What are the chances of gaining access to private ground for the few days we'll be out there? Are landowners receptive to letting people on their properties? We're not looking for giant bucks, just looking to enjoy the adventure of hunting somewhere new together and maybe harvest a buck. Any advice is appreciated and thanks in advance.
